A few more days to go.....

Just a few more days to go and we'll be on the other side of the globe.  It feels surreal.  It feels like its not really going to happen.

I'm starting this blog to keep anyone who cares updated on our trials, tribulations, and hopefully accomplishments in a foreign land.

So far here is what has transpired:  We have sold or given away most of our worldly possessions.  We are currently living with my parents and driving Sam's dad's car.  Yesterday we went to the Chinese consulate for the last time and picked up some vital paperwork.  Then we took Sam's sisters to China town to look for chinese attire for our going away party on Saturday.  San Francisco China Town actually does smell somewhat like China.  The thing that definitely stands out as different is that everyone seems to speak mainly Cantonese and most of the writing is in traditional chinese characters.  The shop owners also don't like to bargain that much on things.  They would come down a little in price if the price was already set very high or if you bought more than one item.  I went around saying "do you know how much cheaper you could get that if you were in China!"  I guess we'll be there soon enough for me to sharpen my bargaining skills.....

  1. Do you remember that time we went to China Town, when I was first learning Chinese. That was fun. All I knew was like 10 words, lol.
