I remember one day in January when I was a child living in southern California, I woke up and decided that winter was over and it was time to wear shorts. I even think that I did wear shorts that day to school. Right now the weather outside is 14 degrees farenheit. Can you guess how I feel about that? Yup, its time for winter to end! I'm done! I really wish I could throw on a pair of shorts and flip flops now. The sad thing is that I have at least two months more of cold weather. But there is some good news too. Other than a general tiredness I haven't gotten sick! I didn't even get Sam's cold which I mentioned a blog or two ago. Sam though, has not been so fortunate. Not only did that cold hang on for a couple of weeks but he also got a serious case of food poisoning. He was stuck close to the bathroom for a couple of days while I went to school, work, and lectured him on the importance of taking vitamins and getting enough rest. I remember thinking; "Maybe this year winter will just fly by." But I was wrong. Work has mostly ended until March and the winter blues have set in. So I am happy to tell you my second piece of good news: We are going to Thailand for a week of warm weather! My only problem? No bathing suit! I think I will leave the shopping for a bathing suit in the middle of winter story for another blog. For now, I am counting down the days until we go and dreaming of warm sand between my toes.
Important words to remember:
dōngtiān (冬天)= winter
gǎnmào (感冒)= to catch a cold; a cold
